University Ballarat

University  Ballarat

We are one of Australia's newer universities, having been declared a University in 1994. In 1998, the University of Ballarat merged with the School of Mines and Industries Ballarat (which had a campus at Ararat as well as in the heart of Ballarat), and with the Horsham-based Wimmera Institute of TAFE, which had a Stawell campus.

The Horsham Campus delivers training throughout the Wimmera and further afield on-campus and through off-campus and flexibly delivered programs. The modern facility accommodates a spacious Learning Resource Centre and specialised training rooms for child care, computing, welfare and library studies.

1999 saw the opening of a $3.9 million building which houses art and design workshops, a nursing training room and three additional computer training rooms. The campus' training restaurant - Rosebrook is located at the Horsham Golf Club. The campus' rural programs are delivered from a purpose built wool classing facility.

Programs provided include Business Studies, Computing, Further Education, Manufacturing Studies, Hospitality, Rural Studies, Vocational Arts and Health, Social & Community Services and some higher education units.
